VENETIAN PLASTER - 2 Days
Artist: Sherree Andersen
Learn how to Venetian plaster using the
best "old world" European techniques and products
for finishing walls with Venetian plaster, such as Veneciano, Marmorino,
and Le Fleur. Get in on a movement that is sweeping the United
States. The Venetian plaster technique learned in this class can command premium prices.
Old World Venetian plaster consists of
a lime-based plaster that is combined with at least 40 percent marble dust. The
results are stunning and virtually unlimited in design, depth, and sheen. You
may have seen this fascinating new design medium on television with the
decorating programs.
The unique design and techniques of Venetian Plaster can be
used virtually anywhere that plaster can be used. When sealed, it is durable
enough for kitchens, bathrooms, and high traffic areas. Many resort hotels and
casinos extensively use Venetian plaster on the
walls. The luxurious look and feel of silk are a signature of the opulence of
Venetian plaster.
The premium plaster from Europe is aged
for a few months in open pits where it is free from contamination from any other
minerals. During this storage process, the plaster is allowed to hydrate. Marble
and other minerals are later added to
the plaster. Be the first in your area to offer Venetian plaster to your customers.
Or, be the first in your neighborhood to show off this exquisite new wall finish to your
friends and family.
The student practices each technique on
sheetrock until the technique is mastered. Then the final sample board that the
student takes home is created on a sturdy, lightweight board that is not poster
board or cardboard.
What you will create and take home:
VENECIANO
is a high gloss finish that holds all the chromatic and aesthetic emotions which
have been handed on by the master decorators of the Serenissima Republic of
Venice. When sealed it is durable enough for kitchens, bathrooms and high
traffic areas and can be cleaned with soap and water.
MARMORINO
Venetian plaster gives the effect of aged stucco. Mellow
and soft, the Marmorino is applied in two leyers, then aged,
The pureness of the long aged and tamped slaked lime enables this finish to
obtain unequal transparencies and color depths.
LE FLEUR
is a specialized effect created in the Venetian plaster. It gives a very textured look, but is smooth to the touch. The
results are stunning and virtually unlimited in design, depth, and sheen.
AL FRESCO is
reminiscent of the fresco murals popular throughout
Europe. Two to three colors are used together, creating a depth of color and
texture like no other Venetian plaster.
