TESTIMONIALS
Heather Eastman from
Marietta, Georgia
There are hardly words to express my gratitude and deep
appreciation for this truly life-changing experience--in every single way it
exceeding my hopes and expectations. As a teacher, your gifts with
instruction, talent, experience, encouragement, practicality, enthusiasm and
knowledge made you surpass every other previous "best teacher ever" category
(and I did have a lot of great art professors). I feel that you are an
utter gift in my life and career; a path that was meant to be crossed! And
then, there is you as a person--funny, (hysterical, actually!) warm, driven and
energetic, kind, accepting, gracious, wildly talented, a visionary on so many
levels--and this is your TRUE gift. I learned so, so much from you--there is
the saying that "if you leap, the net will appear". . .and you were absolutely the
net for me during a time of big hopes/fears, transition and exploration. A
chance that opened the channels of my creative heart and soul; a "push" into
the waters of authentic and fulfilling work! This may all sound so extreme, but
I am so truly thankful for you and our time in the studio; the freedom
to create, for the genuine and heartwarming conversations, food and nurture,
laughter, soulful introspection, and FUN. I feel elevated to a new level of
awareness and skill in the universe, one of confidence and determination. THANK
YOU FOR THIS!! I truly will (and do) miss you, and will be consulting with you
and staying in touch so that I can keep my motivation high.
I had an extreme mix of emotions when I landed; tears just
streamed out of nowhere, and I can't even explain it all. All good, pure joy
and release (even some sadness as I wish I lived closer to you and Jim!)
I have a LOT to figure out in the next few weeks, months--but
I know with you and God and my OWN journey this will happen.
With love and such admiration

As consumers, we tend to overlook the
promise of "support" that is sometimes offered with a service. I am quite sure
that Sher doesn't say specifically in her classes, "Oh, and if you are ever
in a country that doesn't have the right paint; where you can't find the
supplies you need; where everything is in a foreign language and you may not
know what you're looking at....I'll do my best to help you." She may not say
that specifically, but SHE DOES IT! Folks...that's VALUE.
Faux Painting School taught me all about the chemistry of
paints, glazes, varnishes, primers and more. When you walk into a paint
manufacturing plant and ask questions about products you need for faux
finishing and the Chief of Operation's mouth drops open and he says to you,
"I've never had ANYONE so knowledgeable about paint walk into my office off the
street." Folks...that's VALUE.
If it's been over four years since you took the course and
you can still send an email with a question...and receive an
answer...folks...that's VALUE.
I have never EVER done a project without thinking over and
over about something I learned in the Faux Filled Dreams class. So...if you are
reading this considering taking one (*I* would certainly recommend more than
one) class, be sure to consider the above points and maybe you will begin to
understand the VALUE of what you are getting.
My continuing and sincerest gratitude to . Thanks,
Sher...you are such a jewel!

I just wanted to say thank you. I got so much out of the Comprehensive Faux Finish Course.
I NEVER in my wildest dreams would have believed that I could do all of the wonderful things that you have taught me. But more than technique,
I think you gave me something amazingly invaluable. You gave me the ability to see the gifts that God gave me as talent. A talent that I can use
and develop into something that will carry me through the rest of my life: financially as well as spiritually. You helped me feel the security in the
acceptance of my own talents and abilities. You helped me gain faith in myself through my gifts.
In addition to the planned lessons I have learned over the last week, I have gained a lot of friends; friends that I will treasure forever; friends that
will be an active part of my life from now on; friends that will forever be in my heart and soul!
This is the most rewarding experience I have ever had. Ok, maybe the second most rewarding. But only second in comparison to being a mom!
I can never fully explain how much I got from being a part of your class. I would highly recommend this course to anyone! You both are truly
wonderful, caring and positively delightful people. It is honor to have you both touch my life.
I WILL BE SEEING YOU AGAIN!!!!
P.S. My daughter heard my family talking about me at the reunion. She said they were saying things like, "she
needs to go with this," and "she won't like being a math teacher since she enjoys painting too much," and my favorite, "we have to help
her get started, she can DO this!"
Scott from
Lockport, IL
I 'm still trying to come off my HIGH!!! Since I got out of school, people have said," You should get a career in art". My response was always,
"like what? You can't make money in art." Your school was what I have been looking for all these years but didn't know it. I NOW
can say that I have found my direction! I loved everything about your program & YOUR encouragement, talent, skill, & knowledge was overwhelming!!!!
You, Jim, & Tammy could not have made my experience any better!!!!! I feel SOOOOOO lucky to have found you all. I miss everyone already too! I am
working on my new boards. They're cut & I'll let you know how they paint -up asap.
Joanna Couch from Mesa, AZ
I'm e-mailing you to tell you know how much both of you are my mentors. You teach with all of your heart, your love of the art ,and the experience of your
life lessons. You help us find our passion for art. It has been about a year ago that my mother and I were at Faux Painting School. From that week of training we are
now doing great in the Decorative Art Business.
When we got home I had to get six more months of experience to get our contractor’s license for Arizona, so I hired on with the top decorative faux
finisher in the East Valley of Arizona. It was not long after I started that job
I had to show him how to do techniques because he was only taught DECORATIVE
RECIPES not the value of leaning how to faux finish in your faux finishing classes.
You teach the basics as well as the advanced such as Color Theory, your Business Course, how to hold a brush, faux vocabulary, and how to make your own
secret RECIPES. Because you understand color and the chemistry of paint, glazes and other products and teach it, we understand what we are doing from the
ground floor up. The teachings on wall preparation with primer such as DRAW-TITE, glazes, and sealers were indispensable.
So Sher, Jim, and Tammy thank you for always being there to answer or return my phone calls with the many questions of this last six months as we have begun
our new life as DECORATIVE EXPRESSIONS LLC. We are licensed in paint/wallpaper and interior design and are opening up a studio soon. You are Decorative
Expressions inspiration in this business. love ya, JOJO

The week I spent in Poplar Bluff, Missouri with Sher, Jim and Tammy was
one week that I found inspiring and transforming, a week
in a cocoon of art. I'm no master faux finisher now like Sher, yet. Conversely, I now have
the foundation to build my own faux business or whatever I wish.
That is what this class offers. Sher is a fantastic teacher, patient, supportive and, above all, positive.
They say there are no bad teachers only bad students. Translation- EVERYONE has something YOU can learn from and boy, is there a lot to learn here! Every
night I put my head on my pillow in Poplar Bluff I wondered, "Man, how am I going to remember all this." That's how much there is being taught and
how much I've learned in this faux finishing school.
There are hundreds if not thousands of faux schools. Of all the schools, I know I made the right choice. I made connections and friends and knowledge
that will last a lifetime.
However, I do have one negative thing to say - at 6'4", my bed was too short and my feet were cold every night.
Margie Wallace from Olympia, WA
I loved Sherree's class and her great relaxed style of teaching. It was the biggest step on a journey that is changing my life one step at a time. I am now the
PR person for Emerald City Artisans Guild because of my photography and I have
loved being apart of the wonderful world of artists. It is more rewarding than
anything I have ever done in my life and I look forward to a continuing growth in my life and lots of exciting new experiences.

Orwigsburg, PA
I just got my mural yesterday! I am grateful that God brought me to your
school. His intentions for my life are so much greater than what I expected!
I truly enjoyed meeting all of you and also those who were in the class!
Clay Chose from Lisbon, ND
Greetings from North Dakota....First off I would like to thank You and Jim for your hospitality....You made Gail and I feel right at home. The classes were
absolutely wonderful, I'm still sorting through notes and reading lessons over and over. There was almost more information than this old
Norwegian could take
in at one time. I have been busy showing my portfolio around, with great reviews, my only problem is to keep the drooling cleaned up from my samples ( good
thing they're waterproof).
Carol (Boots) Hensel From Tallahassee, FL
I wanted to make sure you both know how much your faux finishing classes meant to me. First of all you both are very capable & qualified
instructors. Your concern & patience was limitless & I know you must have had to go to the patience bank after I left! I'm so glad I chose
your school over several others I had researched. It is obvious you wanted your students to succeed & did everything possible to make sure of that.
You created an atmosphere that was comfortable, non-threatening, and exciting. The days were packed full, learning, creating, and sharing. Not to
mention, the lunches were special. Oh, and Jim, your recipes are the envy of my gourmet friends!!! Keep those home made pancakes coming
Thanks again for the best, hard working time I've ever had. I have learned so much, and am anxious to get my whole new career going. Keep going,
wouldn't have you change a thing!
Love Ya, Boots
Dee Pitts from Paradise, Michigan
To anyone considering taking faux finishing classes, I highly recommend you take a plane, train, or automobile to the Faux Painting School School
of Decorative Arts. The comprehensive course is loaded with information. Who knew you could have so much fun
in an educational setting! Sher is a wonderful teacher with the patience of a saint. She truly cares about her students future success. You definitely get
"one on one" instruction due to limited class sizes.
I also enjoyed learning the Venetian Plaster techniques. Jim's plaster work is beautiful. I stayed for the apprentice program, and I can't stress how happy I am that I did.
It gave me the confidence in myself to go home and do all I learned while at Faux Painting School for 2 weeks. Believe me when I say, Sher and Jim go above and
beyond to teach, encourage, and nurture every student that walks through their doors. They are special people. By the time my classes were done, they
were like family to me and I didn't want to leave!
Holly Distefano from Kansas City, Missouri
My experience with Faux Painting School was an incredible leap towards building my career in the Decorative Arts industry. Sher and Jim Galeotti have in their own
unique knowledge and style when approaching the students. Sher is strong in the artistic, the practical and personal, Jim is strong in the business and legal
aspects of the business. That combination of knowledge is priceless. Attending four years at a University to study Art Education did not give me the
information that I received with a week of training with them. You will gain the confidence and the knowledge that is takes to run the business and to be proud
of what you do. When the classes are over and you are back to running the business they are willing to answer any questions and give advice when you're in
a pinch! How's that for service? I assure you...this class is worth the time, money, and effort. Product knowledge, legal issues, marketing yourself,
cost-effective and high profit techniques, and of course the Artistic advice is fantastic!

Sher! I did it! Woohoo! The bid was $8,979 and we cleared $7k. We completed the job in 3.5 days. Oh My God!
I'm working on brochures and business cards and planning on this business really escalating after
the first of the year. I'm waiting on pics of the job to
send to you. The following are some things you might pass along to new students:
Things I Learned on My First Job...
Rush jobs SHOULD cost more.
ALWAYS have your architectural box with you!
THANK GOD FOR Faux Painting School's BUSINESS PLAN
FOR BIDDING.
There isn't enough money in the world for taping and masking.
Scaffolding is heavy and I am truly acrophobic.
Blue tape won't stick to baseboards until you try to take it off.
Plastic drop cloths are cheap, which is great when you're too tired to decide which ones are worth keeping.
THANK GOD FOR Faux Painting School's SUPPLY LIST.
Combination tape and masking paper is worth every penny.
Don't blow your nose after being in a room that is being spray painted, (and not wearing a mask) it's scary...
Icy Hot patches are better than sex.
I am able to hurt in places I didn't know I had body.
The check for the balance of the job makes you hurt less.
THANK GOD FOR Faux Painting School's BUSINESS PLAN FOR PAYMENT.
Even when you're exhausted, doing the actual faux finish is a rush!|
I can do this stuff! And I love it!
THANK GOD FOR JIM AND SHER!!!!
I can't wait to come back for more classes!
Tere Watkins from Houston Texas
I can't tell you how much this past week will help me in this new business adventure. Being able to work with a Master Faux Finisher like you and a
Master Plasterer like Jim, was invaluable. Taking the class of faux wall techniques and then being able to produce those techniques on regular size walls
with the two of you watching and helping was great! I had tried one technique at home and thought I was doing something wrong and come to find out
I was doing the technique right, but didn't know it until you allowed me to reproduce it on the wall there in Missouri. Wow, I was so excited!
I now plan to do that technique in my husband's study.
For those students that are unsure of what they are doing, they are really loosing out if they don't take advantage of the new
apprentice program. This is well worth the money and the experience of working side by side with you and Jim
on big walls will give your students the push they need and the confidence they need to go out and sell themselves. All of you that are unsure of
yourself and this business, go to the apprentice class. You will make the money back and more on your first job.
Thanks Sher and Jim for a wonderful week of fun, hard work, and fellowship with you and 3 other wonderful women.
I now know two more faux finisher's that I can keep up with and maybe see again at your place in Missouri.
Marlene Graves from Dardenelle, AK
I just have to email you. You know how excited I was about learning? I'm even more excited now. . . ha ha.
I am amazed at the people and business's coming to me and wanting walls painted!! It is amazing! Today I went to the paint store, left my color pallets from
class and ask the sales rep to replicate a few colors for me hat we had used in class. When I went back later to the store to pick up my paint they wanted to
know if I was a faux painter and did I have business cards they could pass on to customers because so many people are looking for faux painters! I can' t go
to the grocery store or to Wal-Mart anymore without being stopped! Word travels fast in a small town!!
At the moment I am preparing to paint two rooms. I have taken over my samples for her to look at. I had to laughed. She only wanted a simple parchment
technique before I showed her my samples and now she wants it ALL!
I think this is the best thing I have ever done. I am having so much fun. I really can't thank you enough for allowing me the opportunity to step into a new
world. I look at everything in a different way now.
J ust needed to tell you about my experiences since I have been back. I feel as if I am writing back home to mom. :) I will be hanging my certificate in my
classroom. Thanks for being the person you are.
Cindy Whitman from Houston Texas
My week spent at the APPRENTICE PROGRAM
was as valuable to me as the other classes that I have taken and will continue
to take at Faux Painting School. I was fairly new out of the COMPREHENSIVE FAUX
FINISH class when I took the Apprentice Program. The only problem with that was
that I hadn't had time to discover problems of my own to present, so I could
find the solution to my dilemmas. But, I did take the class with several other
students who had already had the experience I was lacking, so I still was caught
up in the trial and error stage w2ith them. I not only learned valuable lessons
and solutions to many problems, but also had a great time doing it. Oh, don't
get me wrong, this is not for the lazy and meek minded faux finisher, but for
the serious and dedicated student who wants their work to be the best. We spent
many long days and sometimes into the night working projects as we were hungry
to learn all we could. We laughed a lot and had a really great time.
If you are wondering if you should take the new APPRENTICE class, my suggestion is
to run, not walk, to the registration line. You couldn't find two greater people than Sher and Jim to take it with. Besides, Jim is a GREAT cook and, yes, you'll
come away with some added pounds, great friends, and a lot of knowledge to use for your future.
Paulette Esselman from Austin, Texas
I just had to write and share with you that I scored a coup! I snagged a powder
room for a high end designer. I took my sample boards to a friend's home to show
her my work. When I arrived, the same crew of painters I had seen before I took
your class were in the house working. They were the ones who made me feel so
intimidated before I took your class, and I even wondered if I could even do
this AFTER I came back from your class. They stopped what they were doing so
they could look at my sample boards too. They could not believe my work and they
began asking me all sorts of questions like: "What is that--it is
so cool?" (green ice over green Venetian Plaster); "Where did you say you were
trained?" "How did you do that one and where do you purchase your supplies?" And
finally, "Hey you guys, we have a lot more to learn..."
My confidence soared and
I finally realized that the very first client I had who said my work was
beautiful, really meant my work was beautiful! He also told me he has two more
clients for me! I just wanted to pass on my compliments to the teachers who
taught me. Thanks!
(and later...)
Thought you might like to hear what the upscale designer said about my VP job in
that million plus home. She said it was the most exquisite VP job she has yet
seen and that it was so unusual (your Le Fleur design) which will probably
become my signature technique. I am so thrilled at her reaction.
Marjorie Wallace from Olympia, Washington
I wanted to let you know how very valuable I found Sherree's class to be. I
feel that my investment in your class has been the very best money I have EVER
spent on my future in my whole entire life. After one week, I walked away
feeling so inspired, I could hardly wait to get started on my future with all
this incredible knowledge I had just acquired. Sherree's ability to teach was a
natural and the portfolio she instructed us to compile has absolutely dazzled
everyone who has seen it.
Shortly after I got back from California (I had to go right back to work) I took
my first opportunity to go and see my friend's new house....a huge Victorian
about twice the size of their last home. I hauled my sample boards into her home
with no intention of even selling them a job, only to share my accomplishment
with my friend. Well, her husband saw them and he wants me to do his daughter's
new room in one of my finishes. Can you imagine??? I wasn't prepared, hadn't
created a name, put my work in a portfolio or was even thinking about doing work
for them and here I was OFFERED my very first job. I walked out in a daze. But
that is only the beginning. Of course, I had to invest in a portfolio to do my
"work" justice and at least be professional in presenting my work. Then one day,
a contractor came in where I work and I just HAPPENED to have my portfolio there
that day. (It is ALWAYS a good idea to have your portfolio somewhere handy for
people to see...even the trunk of your car) After I showed him my work, he told
me I should go and see a friend of his whom he has a good working relationship
with. Well, his friend happens to be a designer/builder who has done homes on
the Street of Dreams and is well respected in our community. They LOVED my work!
Today, I have my 2nd appointment with them and I am too excited to sleep. No way
could I have even dared to dream that I could begin to do this before
taking Sherree's class. She got into the nuts and bolts that very first day and
I loved her relaxed and efficient way of instruction. And the business end of it
all is just as important and I am finding myself reading and re-reading it to
make sure that I am prepared to do business like a pro. Thanks so much Sherree
for the most valuable week I have EVER spent on my Future. I can hardly wait to
come back for the Venetian Plaster technique class and Marble classes. You made the learning so
easy and instilled me with a confidence that makes me feel that I am realizing a
dream. Thank you so much for a most rewarding week....And also for some fabulous
lunches. Yumm! Just outstanding!
Debbie Francolini from Belle Mead, New Jersey
Faux Painting School certainly filled my faux dreams. What an extraordinary
school with two extremely talented teachers. They are both very relaxed & offer
a homey yet inspiring, caring atmosphere.
Sher is a natural born teacher with incredible knowledge who just oozes enthusiasm. She shares
all her trade secrets, tips and techniques that she has learned out in the real
world. Sher claims to be teaching “techniques” but is in fact teaching so much
more. She gives you fabulous knowledge and the know how to do it all. The
five-day course covers so much it is unbelievable. It was all done in a fun
manner so no matter what we were working on we yearned for more and kept going
because it was enjoyable not hard work. Sher has a real devotion to teaching
and cares about each student as an individual.
Jim is right up
there with Sher in this whole endeavor. His business course is top notch. It
has to be the absolute best of all out there because of all the details he put
into it and shares it all on a CD to each student. Jim then gets in there and
teaches the Venetian plaster class. His devotion to teaching was right on par
with Sher’s and he made sure each student understood the whole concept of
Venetian plaster. He was fun to work with was very patient and his knowledge is
unmatched by anyone.
Although I am a
very out going person to begin with I left Faux Painting School with a renewed
confidence that even surprises me. This is the only school you will ever need
to become a knowledgeable, confident faux finisher. THANKS SO MUCH Sher &
JIM!!!!
C. M. Novess III from Farmington Hills, Michigan
The how-to and hands-on you learn are from real-world
experience. They are the second most valuable part of what you will learn. The
most important thing that Sher shows you is that you
can do it! Sher shares tips and techniques from her own practice that gives you
an instant foundation to build on as you work. Real world exercises using real
world materials with no system materials. The staff at Faux-Filled Dreams
are the BEST!
Deanna Hale from Spokane, Washington
This class was the best money I've ever spent in my life.
It was fabulous!
Sher is an amazing teacher. Incredibly knowledgeable in both artistry and products,
she has a gift for passing that knowledge along, as well as pumping enthusiasm
and support into your veins. Thanks Sher! She doesn't just teach you the
techniques, but between the business course and the million and one helpful
hints she gives you, you have everything you need to launch into a new business.
Their business class should be a must for any fledgling artist. If you
want to succeed as a faux finish artist -- take this class!
Paulette Esselman from Round Rock, Texas
A "FAUXTASTIC" Experience: Six months ago I began my search for the
perfect Faux Finisher's school. My search on the internet took me to Faux Painting School in Mississippi and I began a 3 month email relationship with Sher and her
husband Jim, owners of the school. While reading one of her quarterly news
letters and then searching past archives for previous issues, I knew this was
the school I had been searching for. The only problem was, I did not have time
off for the classes scheduled on their calendar! No problem. Sher offered me
private lessons and I took her up on the offer. I let her know when I would
have some time off from my work and she cleared her calendar.
I flew in on Wednesday and started right in on Thursday breaking only for lunch.
(On them!) I didn't sleep much that night for all the techniques and
information flooding my brain but I returned the very next day for another
marathon of instruction. This private class is custom designed for people who
have limited time and want to take full advantage of Sher's expertise.
It was "one on one", and even though the phone rang frequently and their door
was "open for business" not once did Sher leave my side to answer a call or
address a visitor. Her assistant attended to those duties so she could give me
100% of her time. Each sample I created and the techniques I learned were even
more than I expected. I left on Saturday with a professional portfolio that I
could take to any designer. The quality of my sample boards speak for
themselves and give me the confidence and credibility to show them.
I look forward to scheduling more classes with Sher and Jim. Venetian
plastering is right up there on my list. Hmmm...perhaps another private
lesson. The business course is offered two ways and I will probably order
it on CD.
If you are busy, and you are creative, and you are looking for a school that is
cutting edge--Faux Painting School is the course for you. Whether you take the
week long session or opt for private classes to fit your schedule I promise you
that it is money, as well as time, well spent.
Thank you Jim and Sher for your undivided attention and devotion to teaching me
your craft.
May I one day make you proud that I was a student of Faux Painting School.
Lyanne Holte from Long Beach, California
I took Sherree's 5 day faux finishes class in September of 2000 (Santa Rosa, CA
school) and promptly came home and started my business part-time. Sherree's
class gave me such a great basic foundation of knowledge about finishes,
products and tools. Her class was fun and informative. I really believe that I
have been successful because of the class time spent learning about the legal
aspects, government requirements, and general business accounting information.
All in all I think Faux Filled Dreams is a terrific school. My next classes will
be at Faux Filled Dreams!!! Thanks Sherree. P.S. The lunches were outstanding.
Helen Carter from Starkville, Mississippi
I learned a lot in your class about materials and techniques, but what I
most value at this point is how you shared your philosophy about your business
and empowered us to succeed in our own businesses. It is a struggle not to
be protective of your knowledge and to be open. I imagine it is quite a
balancing act, but you have learned to share and grow with others - that there
is enough success to go around and you that can actually benefit from the
success of your student. I come from a family of educators who really
aren't faced with that particular struggle, so I have no one to look to in order
to learn how to balance my own business interest with the interests and needs of
others. Without knowing how to do that, it is easy to err in both ways at
the same time - which would be entirely unsatisfying and not very lucrative!
I appreciate you setting a standard for me. I just hope I can live up to it.
Thanks!
Dee Donaldson from Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Have you ever taken a college course for $150.00 an hour and upon completion
couldn’t really remember any new thing you learned that made a lasting
impression? Well, after completing Sher’s 5 – day course I felt liked I
had graduated from college with a PHD, magna cum laude! I really enjoyed the
course and learned tons! Fined tuned some skills and was ready to go do it!
The course was easy, educational and fun. The staff is helpful and friendly and
all are supportive and encouraging. I highly recommend Faux Painting School and I
plan on taking other courses myself.
Karen Schoen from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma
Just wanted to send you a thank you because I now realize just how professional
yet homey your class was...I have a new appreciation for how organized you are
in your classes. Also for the things you opened my eyes to such as NEVER to
touch another artists work without asking. And for feeding us well when I was
there. I really appreciate these things because I took a class from a lady who
has recently opened a "faux finish school" (name of school deleted - ed).
She was so disorganized. She was not ready for us when we got there. She would
come up and start using her trowel on our work without asking. Another student
even came up and started doing the same thing to my work and oh wow I nearly
lost it on that one. She disappeared for awhile after that probably thinking
what a hag I was, but I was horrified that someone would touch my work. Also
this lady was very cheap when it came to lunch. One day she ordered one
large pizza for five of us...and one of us was a man who I know must have
starved to death with his two pieces of pizza that day. The next day she
complained because we wanted cheap Mexican food like we were asking for too
much. She was real spacey and kept saying she had ADD. I finally asked her if
she had taken her ritalin that day and she said "no," so she took one. Actually
I was kidding when I said that but she really had this problem...totally spaced
out and never could find anything. Half the time we didn't have what we needed
and had to share things just to get done. It was crazy.
Needless to say I
won't go back there anymore. And the thing is that I don't feel like I learned
much that I can use. Oh well...I just had to thank you so much for the
wonderful classes you have and just how very organized and professional you
are. And yet I felt relaxed and at home with you. THANKS guys!!!

Since taking the comprehensive faux finishing course in May of
this year, I have been too busy with my Mural business to complete my
testimonial on the class! The 5 day course was not only enjoyable, entertaining
and relaxed, it was very informative, educational and incredibly inspiring.
(For a poor artist, who had to think very hard about writing what seemed like a
rather large check, I found it to be well worth it!) After 4 years of being a
part time muralist both in England and in the US, it feels like I have finally
gained access to a world that I previously seemed slightly hesitant to “dive”
into. The class provided us with a wealth of techniques, know-how,
material and product knowledge, useful websites, tax, pricing, business and
marketing information that now enables us to go out and ensure a future in the
art world. Sherree is still willingly answering my questions two months after
the course! I recommend this course to anyone, especially those of you who have
always hoped for a serious career as an artist, but never had the confidence to
go and do it. You will be encouraged and inspired!
Connie Herrin from Alexandria, Louisiana
I am a serious minded artist who truly wanted to be a faux finisher, but lacked
confidence and competence. After taking the Comprehensive Faux Finishing Course
with Sher and Jim, I'm jazzed! My confidence and competence have sky rocketed,
and I am fully prepared to move forward with my business. Sher has a gift
of teaching and encouraging students, and am blessed to have attended this
course. Blessings on you both. I love ya'll.
Lori Bartlett from Washago, Ontario (Canada)
I have been taking painting classes for approximately 13 years
(tole/folkart painting), and I have been teaching for nearly 8. I have never
learned so much in five days. These fun-filled, informative days have been the
most educational to date. I am thoroughly impressed with the business course
and how professional it taught us to be. Watch out Canada you have a new
faux finisher on your hands, one who is very knowledgeable and impressingly
professional. Thanks Sherree, I appreciate all you have done for me.
Kevin Swisher from Prior Lake, Minnesota
My wife Kate spent a lot of time studying every faux finish class we could
find and decided that Faux Filled Dreams was the best. Not until after I talked
to Sher at least twice and asked about things like class size, work space, if
they were associated with any particular product, and many other things, I
agreed that it was the best and made arrangements. Of course then I began to
worry because when things sound to good to be true they most often are. As
things turned out the school was way better than I ever imagined.
Emese S. Blount from Arkansas
The unique and caring atmosphere is what really makes this school special.
The hands-on training I received gave time saving and valuable insight to
specialized techniques and products. My learning experience here will more
than pay for itself on the first job. And, about getting paid, Sher Galeotti's in-depth knowledge on how to land a job, from advertising to bidding,
combined with Jim Galeotti's legal contractual forms and advice has given me
direction and peace of mind I was sorely needing. On a spiritual level, I
feel more inspired than ever to continue with this career endeavor, thanks in
large part to these two artists I believe to be at the front of the line in this
profession.
Christy Judd from California
I have taken several classes from your daughter in Santa Rosa. Your daughter
(Sherree Andersen) is great. I have enjoyed her to no end. I have referred
many to her. Just wanted you to know...being a Mom myself and having one daughter
as old or older actually than Sherree (Andersen). I love to hear my kids are pretty
awesome. Also, just wanted to thank you for a great newsletter. It is actually
my first, but what an awesome first. Thanks.
Hans Boye Boyesen from New Hartford, New York
I thought it was great! Well structured and focused, yet
"personalized" by the instructors. Quite a bit of knowledge is
exchanged over a short period of time. I especially was pleased that the
"business side" of art was covered during the course. I would
highly recommend this school and its instructors to others.
Beverly Bakalyar from Odessa, Florida
Well, they say you can't have a testimony without first being tested. I
would just like to say that the classes that I took from Sher and Jim were
wonderful. I learned a lot and had soooo much fun. They both are
talented artists and are so willing to share their wealth of information.
I took the Comprehensive Faux Finish class in July and was also able to take the
Venetian Plaster Class. What a jam packed week. My mind is still
trying to take it all in. I just can't wait to put into practice all of
the things they taught me. My prayer for them is that God will continue to
richly Bless them and expand their territory. They truly have been a
blessing to me.
Kim Salome from Waco, Texas
The first day I knew I had found the right school. They
expanded my artistic knowledge and gave me the self confidence that was hiding
within me.
Marlow De Mars from Bristol, Massachusetts
5 thumbs up! Excellent class and teaching! Sher removes the mystery
of faux!
Roberta Little from Gautier, Mississippi
Wow! I have just lived through a most compelling learning experience.
I need to share with you how taking the comprehensive faux painting course at
Faux Painting School Decorative Paint School in Waveland, Mississippi, has changed
the focus of my life. I have taught art, taken art classes, done art, and
have marketed art for many years.
To those of you
who are interested in selecting a course of study that includes professional,
personal attention and results; you will not be disappointed. Sher Galeotti has experience, talent as a working faux artist, as well as a
genuine gift for teaching. She and the entire staff of Faux Painting School
are filling a need for those looking for new career as faux artists and those
individuals looking for new methods to do faux finishes themselves.
How lucky we are to have the Galeotti team here on the Coast of
Mississippi (now in Missouri..ed.) As I move on with my newfound knowledge of the art of faux
painting, I look forward to enrolling in many more of the classes offered at the
school. My best advice: Call Sher and Jim to sign up for classes
today!
Becky Carver from Colorado Springs, Colorado
Wanted to thank you for being a part of my journey to a new and better life.
Last year I had some good jobs and great clients and just recently business has
really started to take off. I believe I'm booked through June at this point
(testimonial written in April . . . ed.). But, most of all, I love the work and
all it entails.
Your class on faux finishing was a great value. The instruction was as good as
it gets. The pace was quick, yet instruction was critical and encouraging.
Questions we all answered thoroughly. Tremendous ground was covered and it was a
great start for me to begin a career with. And it was fun. I am 1,000 percent
happy with the class I took at Faux Painting School.
Heather Martin from Venice, Florida
I had the greatest experience learning from Sher & Jim at Faux-Filled
Dreams. Not only did she teach me some easier techniques than I ever
thought possible, she was great about working at everyone's pace and giving
individual attention. The business part of the course was particularly
useful, especially the sample contracts that Jim provided. I left there
feeling very confident about my abilities, and excited about the prospect of
starting my business!
Terrie Best from Campbell, California
This was a wonderful class. It was well taught and fun to be apart
of. I would recommend Faux Painting School decorative paint school to
everyone. Sher & Jim, you both are wonderful. Thank you for
everything.
Angie Vega from LaFayette, Louisiana
I have been fauxing for 4 years. I never imagined I would
learn so much in a class. It was AWESOME! The skills I learned make
my job so much easier! Thanks Jim & Sher.
Cheryl Earle from
Florida
The comprehensive faux finish class was wonderful! I can't
believe how much I learned in just one week. Sher is so knowledgeable
about the techniques, tools, and products. She readily shares her
"tricks of the trade." She has created a fun and enjoyable
learning environment while assuring that each student receives the individual
attention he or she needs to master the many techniques.
Kathy Erickson from Contonment, Florida
As a paint professional, and a paint manufacturer's representative, I have
conducted countless training sessions. Sher conducts her classes with the
utmost enthusiasm and heartfelt desire for students to learn AND retain
techniques. She gladly takes extra time if a student has a challenge with
a particular technique. I also found it very beneficial that she explains
surface preparation and the paint products features and benefits.
Don Touvell from Phoenix, Arizona
I have to say, your class was very informative, interesting, and exciting! I had
a lot of fun while I was
there. Your teaching skills are to be commended. You really go out of your way
to help us. I feel very confident about myself, thanks!!!
Cindy Treadway from Arnold, Maryland
It has been many years since I painted while studying art in
college. I've learned more about painting in one week with Sher than 4
years in college. Sher is a wonderful teacher, inspiring each student
to have faith and confidence in their own artistic abilities and vision.
She is a giving, caring, and extremely knowledgeable woman - who gives her all
into developing faux painters to join her profession. I highly recommend
this course to anyone desiring to explore their artistic side. It was
worth every penny!
Kevin Cox from San Francisco, California
I am writing this testimonial one month after taking Sher's class. Sher
not only gave me the skills and techniques to be a master faux painter, she also
opened the door to a lucrative career doing something I truly enjoy. Thank you Sher for your continued assistance well after the class has ended. Anyone who
has questions about Sher’s program is free to email me.
Nathan Touvell from Phoenix, Arizona
I just wanted to let you know that I had a great time in your class! I
really miss all the laughing we had done. You make an awesome teacher! I learned
a whole heck of a lot, and not only have I learned something new, but you also
gave me a lot of confidence. My self esteem has been much better than before I
walked into your studio. Thank you so much for everything!
Laura Hilton from Laguna Niguel, California
Sher is extremely talented and knowledgeable in
the art of faux finishing and trompe l'oeil. She teaches a wide variety of
exciting, easy to follow classes, that are so much fun you can't take just
one! Personally, I have taken four and I'm not done yet. I
recommend her classes to the beginner, just starting out, and the professional
to learn new techniques.
Jeff Potts from Orange, California
It is obvious that Sher has been in
the business for many years. She has found the most
efficient ways to do faux finishing and knows how to teach
the techniques in an easy to understand method. We
have toured her client's homes and businesses and hope to
achieve the mastery she exhibits in her work.
Kim Cooney from Missoula, Montana
Sher's teaching techniques are very much to the point. I feel I
learned enough to start a business and feel
confident about my work. Sher covers all aspects of faux finishing and reviews what we
learn to make sure we know exactly what she is talking about. She teaches great
organizational skills for the artist.
Sandra Beeler from San Clemente, California
What can I say about Sher? She's a firecracker! Her week long class
for professionals is packed with her enthusiasm, skill, and practical knowledge.
I feel like I learned the faux finish business thoroughly from all
perspectives...creative, business, and legal. Now, I am pursuing my own
professional career with the help of Sher. I receive a steady stream of job
leads from Sher. Possibilities seem endless! Thank you!
Kathy Cooney from Missoula, Montana
Very accelerated classes. I can't believe what we
accomplished. What Fun! I feel very confident
about my painting skills after taking this class.
Annetta Cracraft from Laguna Niguel, California
The Faux-Filled Dreams classes are fantastic. I started taking classes
a couple of years ago in Laguna Niguel, California. My thirst for more classes
has only grown as I continue to grow and learn more about this wonderful field
of faux art design and mural painting. I have been thoroughly delighted with the
results of my efforts and with the instructor, Sher Galeotti. I have
attributed my burst of unknown hidden artistic talents to her commendable
teaching skills and to her highly motivating and extremely knowledgeable format
and presentation. The classes are fun, easy, and educational.
The classes are
very practical because she gears them for the beginner and for the advanced
student. What is most important, in my experience was her positive and
contagious upbeat energy to enhance an optimal learning environment for the
students.
I highly recommend Sher's Faux Filled Dreams Classes before
attempting any of your future home interior decoration projects or for just the
sheer enjoyment of learning a new skill. By far, my favorite class has been the
palm tree painting class. I painted a lovely seven foot palm tree onto canvas
and I cannot believe how professional it looks after only three instructional
classes.
A Very Faux-Filled Art Student.
Jill Richards from Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania
Loved the class! I learned more in 5 days than I had imagined
possible. I left the class feeling confident to start my own business.
Sher is Great!
Deborah French from Anaheim Hills, California
I had always admired and been intrigued by faux finishes and trompe l'oeil, always wishing I knew how to do it.
After taking a few classes from Sher, I have now painted several things in my home - from faux painting a rock wall and furniture, to painting a palm tree
mural on my wall. I would have never believed I could do it! Sher's teaching style and techniques are incredible. She takes the most difficult looking
techniques, breaks them down, and teaches them where they seem easy even to the most basic novice. Just
as important, she makes it fun and instills the
confidence and motivation in her students to put it to practice on their own. Thanks for sharing your passion
and making it mine.
