Faux Painting School is offering a new three-day Accelerated
Faux Finish Course designed especially for the individual who does not have 5 to
7 days of freedom from home or business responsibilities. Each class is a
semi-private class with a maximum of two students. The Accelerated Faux Finish
Course means individual attention and working at your own speed instead of the
speed of the whole class. Training 8 people at a
time, as in the Comprehensive Faux Finish Course, takes much more time than training
two people. In this course, you will finish faster with the same amount of
material as in the Comprehensive Faux Finish Course.
The student can schedule three days of private sessions at their own convenience and work the hours they choose or come to the scheduled sessions listed on the web site. Even weekends are an option. In the similar course, Comprehensive Faux Finish Class, students will finish 12 to 14 sample boards for their portfolio. The student of the Accelerated Faux Finish Course will do the same amount of sample boards, and probably more because there are not as many students who need attention.
What are some other advantages of taking
a private Accelerated Course? You will reduce by half your time away from home or business. It will
cost you less for lodging and food. You get to pick the techniques that you want instead of a set curriculum. This three-day course includes the business course
and color theory. The student can choose the samples and techniques they wish to learn or the techniques they believe will be popular
in their community.
For private lessons you may select the desired techniques from pictures on our web site and call Susan (Sher) with your choices (573-778-3289).
Three day course Prerequisite: none Cost: $1,050

The discriminating client is seeking artists who can accomplish high-end, one-of-a-kind decorative finishes. Do you have such
finishes in your portfolio? This Master Faux Finish course is filled with the newest, most elegant, and most sought after
techniques available today in the United States. Three days of finished design work that is intend to broaden the scope of
the working faux finish professional by enhancing the portfolio and educating the professional on the latest techniques, tools,
and products. This course is crucial for the artist who wishes to remain on the cutting edge of the faux finish business.
MARBLE - The artist who can duplicate different types of marble and granite are in high demand. We will be creating diagonal
marbles, veined marbles, and Breche marbles. A seven layer painted marble is beautiful but who pays for it? By the time you are
finished, they could have had the real marble for less money. You will be taught how to do those marbles using products that can create the deep, many layered marble look without the time, lots of product, and
expense. The marbles sell on larger surfaces as well as furniture.
VENETIAN PLASTER AND LAYERED TEXTURES - Decorative texture finishes are sweeping this country. This class will teach you how to
combine different textured products with metallic products to enhance the drama and elegance associated with the trends of today.
We will be using pigments, one-of-a-kind stencils, European lustre products, Venetian plaster with European patterns, and
metallic waxes and paints.
COLOR MATCHING AND THEORY - a basic understanding of what colors to match with other colors and why will be explored in this section of the course. You will mix paints, waxes, and many other mediums to better understand how each medium works on a particular surface. The temperature of colors, the value of colors, and understanding how those two elements work in matching colors can help you confidently designing with color. This class will help you get the color right the first time.
Experience has taught us that working on large surfaces gives the student a better grasp of the technique. It also embeds itself into the memory. Each artist will work on a large 4 foot board. At the end of class if the board is too large for shipping, we will cut it into four smaller samples.
The artist will leave the class with a manual containing detailed instructions of the techniques and written information on the parameters of each product. A color theory workbook and color wheel that the artist will refer to on a daily basis is also included in this course. This workshop is a must in stimulating the artist to create new finishes and increasing the degree of professional success.
This course will cover the following techniques:
Diagonal Marble
Carrara or a Breche Marble
Travertine Marble
MarmoLustre Marble
Layered MarmoLustre on texture
Fiorentino Suede (Antique Suede)
Venetian Plaster & Texture
Prerequisite: Comprehensive Faux Finish Course or equivalent
Cost: $600

This class offers the most popular finishes today. Trompe L’oeil Textural effects are all the rage in the United States. The discriminating clients want a European textured effect. Walls can look and feel like stone, resemble Mediterranean plaster, fossil stones, and give us the sensation of going back in time to Europe of old.

Upon completion, you will have a sample of Tuscany Texture, Exposed Brick Texture, Stone Wall, Coral or Fossil Stone, Embossed Metal, Metallic Wax on a textured surface, Old World Pigment Glaze on textured plaster, and smooth Venetian Plaster.
The smooth Veneciano effect of Venetian plaster is included in this course. It is the most popular of all the Venetian plaster techniques. The ability to offer your clients Venetian plaster will present an advantage over other faux finish artists.
The chemistry of paint and glazes are explained in detail. What certain paints can do and what they cannot do is also explored. Surface preparation is discussed and practiced with each student until it is fully understood.
Each student will take home a large sample board of the designs taught. This can be the start of their portfolio or practice for do-it-yourself projects.
