Faux Painting School is offering a new three-day
Accelerated Faux Finish Course designed especially for the individual who does
not have 5 to 7 days of freedom from home or business responsibilities. Each
class is a semi-private class with a maximum of two students. The Accelerated
Faux Finish Course means individual attention and working at your own speed
instead of the speed of the whole class. Training 8 people at a time, as in the
Comprehensive Faux Finish Course, takes much more time than training two people.
In this course, you will finish faster with the same amount of material as in
the Comprehensive Faux Finish Course.
The student can schedule three days of private sessions at their own convenience and work the hours they choose or come to the scheduled sessions listed on the web site. Even weekends are an option. In the similar course, Comprehensive Faux Finish Class, students will finish 12 to 14 sample boards for their portfolio. The student of the Accelerated Faux Finish Course will do the same amount of sample boards, and probably more because there are not as many students who need attention.
What
are some other advantages of taking a private Accelerated Course? You will
reduce by half your time away from home or business. It will cost you less for
lodging and food. You get to pick the techniques that you want instead of a set
curriculum. This three-day course includes the business course and color
theory. The student can choose the samples and techniques they wish to learn or
the techniques they believe will be popular in their community.
Three day course Prerequisite: none Cost: $600

Are you looking for an outlet for your creative imagination? Why not create furniture with an attitude. This comprehensive furniture course will teach you to create
beautiful, functional works of art. Learn to imitate old world antiques on your garage sale fixer upper, and design custom pieces using tried and true
methods. We will unravel the tricks to making your own custom pieces from unfinished furniture.
We cover
preparation of wood and other materials. You will learn design, and
refinishing, then create a functional object. Learn the colors that go
with different techniques, which styles exemplify different periods or
cultures, and the overall process of converting an undesirable piece of
junk furniture into a sale-maker.
Students will create samples of each technique on wood boards or polystyrene boards. Distressed wood, handmade stonewashed stains, metallic waxes, wood graining, stenciling, imbedded designs, and much more will be created on the appropriate surface. There will be emphasis on finishing cabinets. Decorative artists who can finish cabinets are in great demand. These designs will make a beautiful addition to your portfolio.
Hand painted furniture is sold in many specialty boutiques. It brings high prices and is in demand throughout the United States. It is time for you to be a part of this financially and personally rewarding home based business.

Discover the art of decorative painting for walls, furniture, floors, concrete, cabinets and accessories. The student will learn the five most popular faux finish effects in the decorating paint industry. Techniques taught range from frottage (leather) to texture (MarmoLustre) creations.
Upon completion of the course, you will have a sample of Parchment, Old World Colorwash, MarmoLustre, Metallic Wax, and Corinthian Leather. Colors used will be those poplar today.
The chemistry of paint and glaze is explained in detail. Surface preparation is discussed and practiced with each student because your finish is only as good as your surface preparation. The student will take home a sample board of each effect practiced and taught.
Prerequisite: None Cost: $300 (all materials provided - lunch on your own)
